Image & Design
Image and design is the first durable cluster on forkalt. People look for a Photoshop alternative when a subscription, a platform lock, or a privacy constraint gets in the way. Others want a newly named editor explained before they install it.
This category currently holds a Photoshop alternatives hub, PhotoCraft (an early-alpha Rust editor), GIMP, an install outline, a PhotoCraft vs GIMP comparison, and the Qwen-Image-2.1-Turbo model page. We do not treat PhotoCraft as production-ready: its own repository calls it early alpha.
If you are choosing an editor, start with the Photoshop alternatives hub, then read the individual tool pages for licenses and sourced star counts. If you care about generation rather than pixel editing, see open Midjourney-class models.
